Health Evangelism Department Update

The Kibidula Medical Missionary Department now includes Kori Butts as a full time staff member. In addition to the basic medical missionary training held at the Evangelism School (the first month of each 5-month session), the team has been very busy with mobile teaching sessions, health expos, helping with evangelism efforts, translating the teaching materials, developing tracts, opening our new Wellness Center, and doing village door-to-door work.
Kori has been a big help, as she has been very active in the villages around Kibidula, helping people with all kinds of needs. A few students from the Evangelism School have the opportunity to continue the medical training and work together with her in the community and at the Wellness/Lifestyle Center. Over 50 men and women have been advised or given medical assistance, food and clothing provided for more than 15 families, and four gardens for the elderly or sick “put back in shape”. The new Wellness/Lifestyle Center has served 3 guests so far.

Ultimately, the goal is to win people’s trust that we may reach them for Christ. Our first health guest that came for help with out-of-control diabetes earlier this year was baptized on the 17th of December! We are praising the Lord for opening doors and hearts.
Fifty students attended the one-month medical missionary training this year at the Kibidula Training Center as either a stand-alone class or as part of the 5-month evangelism course. Together with our students we conducted health expos and meetings in 15 different locations, with more than 2’262 attendees. In connection to these meetings, 111 people decided to be baptized.
We want to praise God for all He has done!

Printing Work

Print4

The printing work at Kibidula started with the arrival of Bill Bosse in December 2013. After a couple of months of waiting and praying, the shipping container with four presses and a multitude of other equipment arrived. After much effort and perseverance, the first print job (health expo sheets for the medical missionary department and evangelism school) rolled off the press. Bill and his apprentice Yoeli are still seeking to find suppliers for all the different printing materials, such as chemicals and proper paper for the various jobs. They are also working out the fine tuning for the new press to be able to print in full color.

In less than one year of operation, two different message tracts, Steps to Christ in Swahili, business forms, medical forms, teaching syllabi, and a run of 1000 booklets to minister to Muslims have been printed.
Bill and Yoeli are also helping to bring new life to some old books, especially Bibles, using local materials and a lot of creativity. Those “new” old Bibles look like they will have many more years of bringing the Good News to the people of surrounding areas.

Graduation of Evangelism School Students (Session 2, 2014)

Graduation of the second session of the Evangelism School was on the 23rd of November, 2014. Twenty-eight students from age 20 to 62 completed the 5-month evangelism training course, including the one-month medical missionary classroom training. This group split up into two teams for three weeks of evangelism outreach. They conducted health expos, went from door to door, and held meetings. Many people made a decision to follow Christ – praise be to Him!

The students came from all parts of Tanzania, such as Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Iringa, and many other places. Now, most of them have excitedly returned to their homes to continue to use their newly learned skills to reach many hearts with the knowledge and love of our Lord Jesus.

Avocado season has begun

We have avocados!

Just one of the benefits of working here at Kibidula is that we have first buyers rights to the avocados that are grown here.  The season has begun and we have started enjoying the fruits of our labor.  Many of the staff become so accustomed to the excellent quality of our avocados that when the season is over, we just can’t bring ourselves to buy the market varieties.  There is NO COMPARISON AT ALL.  We have excellent fruit from our trees and many of us are taking advantage of it.

Some of us have been experimenting and making bread with avocado, making creamy desserts (carob pie filling) and such.  It is amazing how a little avocado can change a normal dish into something extraordinary.

So we are thankful for our producing trees, for our newly grafted trees, and for the continued growth of the orchard.  Now we are seeking to make a real breakthrough in the area of marketing.  We marketed last years crop, but we hope to have more this year and want to expand.  We covet your prayers for God to open the door for us to have a big market share, that the sellers and the buyers in the surrounding area will recognize the superior quality (and handling) and that we will have a better way to raise funds for the evangelism efforts.
